Stemming from the critical moment that we are living in, this project is a wake up call about the now contaminated world caused by humans.There are three themes: Earth, Water, Air. For each theme, it will have their own representative elements: Whale mortality, deforestation, and COVID-19Utilizing basic colors which mainly consists of gray and the color of the theme, the background is created.The project is created using the method of Collage. With this style, I strive to generate a vivid picture of our dire situation.
This theme calls on the problem of contaminated air through using the image of CovidDark red is the color of the virus's protein spikes and emergency.The Earth at the center of the virus demonstrated it as a global challenge.The hands represent the catastrophic effect of humans on Earth. With the addition of chainsaws and the gray background, it’s conveying that by cutting trees, humans are contributing to the Earth's changing climate.
A century ago, humans had slaughtered nearly every whale in the Atlantic for food and resources. Now, their habitats are also polluted, which post a serious threat to them.Blue represents the whales and the sea which they are living in.The gray background signifies pollution, the slow death of the sea.The three-headed fish is a result of mutation because of the contaminated sea.The hands is an analogy of humans exploiting the sea.
Inspired by news on deforestation, I strive to speak up about how trees are being destroyed by humans.Green represents the forest, the lungs of the planet.The background is a combination between gray colors and trees images, meaning the trees are dying.The leaves is a representation of organisms thriving by extracting nutritions from the dead trees.The hands being human, chainsaws also exemplify the effect of deforestation.
